Overview

Capital Sports Construction, Inc. partnered with Merrimack Soccer Complex in Huntsville, AL to install synthetic turf across eight soccer fields. The project transformed heavily used grass fields into durable, all-weather playing surfaces designed to support tournament play, league schedules, and community recreation with minimal disruption from rain or overuse.

The upgraded fields significantly increase the complex’s capacity to host games and events, while providing consistent footing, predictable ball response, and a professional-quality experience for players and spectators.

Our Scope of Work

Site Design and Engineering

The project began with a detailed review of the existing field layout, grading, and drainage conditions across the complex. Design work focused on establishing uniform field elevations, efficient stormwater management, and an engineered base structure capable of supporting eight synthetic turf fields used intensively throughout the year.

Site Construction

Construction activities included removal of existing grass surfaces where needed, regrading to achieve target slopes, and installation of compacted aggregate base layers under each field. Drainage infrastructure was integrated into the base system to handle heavy rain while preserving surface integrity and playability. Each field’s sub-base was prepared to meet the structural demands of a modern turf system under frequent competitive use.

Synthetic Turf Installation

With base work in place, synthetic turf systems were installed on eight soccer fields. The installation included:

• Placement of high-quality turf designed for soccer-specific performance
• Performance infill calibrated for traction, ball behavior, and impact absorption
• Seam and perimeter detailing built to withstand heavy traffic and maintenance cycles
• Final field striping and layouts suitable for club, league, and tournament play
