Overview
Capital Sports Construction, Inc. partnered with Rockmart High School in Rockmart, GA to perform the complete base work required for converting the school’s stadium football field to a synthetic turf system. This phase establishes the engineered foundation necessary to support a modern, durable, and weather-resistant playing surface for varsity athletics and community use.
By reinforcing field stability, improving drainage, and preparing the sub-base to synthetic turf specifications, the project sets the stage for a high-performance athletic facility capable of sustaining heavy year-round use.
Project Goals
- Prepare the stadium field for full synthetic turf conversion
- Improve subgrade stability and long-term structural performance
- Enhance drainage to minimize rain-related downtime
- Provide a consistent, safe foundation for football and multi-use athletics
- Reduce future maintenance demands once turf installation is complete
Our Scope of Work
Site Design and Engineering
The project began with a detailed evaluation of existing field conditions, including soil composition, field elevations, and drainage behavior. Engineering plans were developed to ensure a structurally sound base capable of supporting synthetic turf systems built for high school competition.
Site Construction (Base Work)
Construction focused on transforming the natural surface into a graded, well-drained foundation suitable for turf installation. Work included:
- Removal of the existing natural field surface and unsuitable subgrade materials
- Precision grading to establish proper field elevations and slope
- Installation of compacted aggregate base layers engineered for turf performance
- Integration of subsurface drainage components to control water movement
- Sub-base preparation to meet synthetic turf manufacturer specifications
This foundational work ensures the field will remain stable, safe, and consistent under frequent athletic use once turf installation is completed.
Project Highlights
- Completed engineered base work for a full stadium football field conversion
- Improved drainage systems to reduce field closures and weather disruptions
- Delivered a stable, long-lasting sub-base optimized for synthetic turf
- Reduced future maintenance by replacing unsuitable soils and improving subsurface structure
- Enhanced readiness for high-performance play and heavy seasonal usage
- Positioned the school to host games, practices, and events on a modern athletic surface
