Savannah High School

Savannah, GA

Overview

Capital Sports Construction, Inc. contributed to the development of the new stadium complex for Savannah High School in Savannah, GA by providing the engineered base work required for the athletic field and track area. Completed as part of the school district’s broader stadium construction initiative, this project delivered the foundational grading and subsurface preparation needed to support modern athletic surfaces and long-term facility performance.

The work ensured that the new stadium field and surrounding track zone would rest on a stable, well-drained, and properly constructed sub-base suitable for competitive high school athletics.

Project Goals

  • Support the construction of a new stadium field with engineered base work
  • Establish proper grading and drainage for reliable field and track performance
  • Prepare a stable foundation for future surfacing systems
  • Improve long-term durability and reduce maintenance challenges
  • Meet district specifications for safety, consistency, and athletic use

Our Scope of Work

Site Design and Engineering

CSC began by reviewing the stadium layout, field geometry, and drainage requirements. Engineering considerations included surface flow, water collection points, and structural needs for both the athletic field and the surrounding track corridor. Plans were developed to ensure that the sub-base could support high-traffic athletic use and withstand seasonal weather conditions.

Site Construction (Base Work)

Construction efforts focused on creating a durable, uniform foundation for the stadium’s athletic components. Work included:

  • Excavation and shaping of the field and track footprint
  • Precision grading to achieve correct elevations and drainage slopes
  • Installation of engineered aggregate sub-base layers
  • Compaction and preparation of the foundation to meet athletic surfacing standards
  • Integration of drainage systems to manage water efficiently across the field and track area

This foundational work ensures the stadium’s athletic surfaces can perform consistently and safely over time.

Project Highlights

  • Delivered engineered base work for a newly constructed high school stadium
  • Improved drainage performance to reduce weather-related disruptions
  • Created a stable, long-lasting foundation supporting athletic field and track installations
  • Enhanced facility readiness for competitive football, track events, and school activities
  • Contributed to a major capital improvement supporting students and the broader Savannah community

Results

The base work completed by Capital Sports Construction established the structural foundation necessary for Savannah High School’s new athletic stadium.
